Wood Carving Projects – Part 1

I enjoy carving wood and it is a skill I have been looking to improve upon, so I spent the day with Terry from I.E.A.T Scouts and went back to basics to improve my wood carving skills.

We started the day by carving wizards into soap with ice lolly sticks cut to make knifes, while it was part carving and part sculpting. I found it to be rather therapeutic. It is also a great introduction into carving such items from wood, making you think about how the next cut is going to be made and working on symmetry.

I did learn the hard way to make sure you have no soap shavings on your hand if you are going to rub your eyes. Other projects to start with include spike trolls or carving from sweet potatoes.
