In December 2012 I received a piece of 01 tool steel large enough to make a bushcraft knife, I had put handles onto knife blanks before. But never had I made a blade from stock, I had tried to make the knife from the film “The Hunted” once using some scrap on a welding course at college about 10 years ago. It was never going to be much as it was too small a piece of steel and I didn’t have the right tools or any knowledge about knife making, I now have enough knowledge to make an attempt and have access to the tools required to make a completed knife.
I am using the guide and templates from SWC to make my knife and I think I have chosen the knife I want to go with, I have transferred the template to the steel and will wait a few days to make sure I am happy with the design before continuing.
