Limited Edition Spork 2010

I was given this as a gift by my nephew for Christmas, which makes this even more special than it already is being a limited edition. One glow in the dark spork is made per 1000 sporks sold and since their launch in 2005 over 10,000,000 have been sold worldwide, having purchased my first one in around 2006 I now have 5 including this one. I’m looking forward to getting a World Scout Jamboree one on my trip to Sweden with the Scouts and the 2011 limited edition.

Below is the press release from Light My Fire for the limited edition spork.

To thank all our Spork fans all around the world, Light My Fire is introducing a new annual collector’s series of Sporks. First out is the Limited Edition Spork 2010: the Glowing Spork, a Spork made with phosphorus properties that give it unusual glow-in-the-dark properties. Each Limited Edition Spork comes in a black box with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity. Also included is one of the most unusual tabloids you’ve ever seen: “The Glowing News”, a miniature gossip rag that answers the age-old question: what does the Spork do at Night?

“From electric guitars to dolls, originality can turn original design into collectors’ items,” explains Calill Odqvist, Light My Fire CEO. “Our Spork isn’t a 1962 Fender just yet, but who knows what the future will bring? This is the thinking behind our new Limited Edition Spork series.”

The Limited Edition Spork 2010 will be available for a limited time.

“The idea behind our collector Sporks is that they will only be available a short time each year and then will disappear,” adds Calill Odqvist. So if you want to keep your collection complete you have to be on your toes!”

CRKT EDC Linderlock

I got this in the mail today after ordering it on special offer from Heinnie Haynes which saved me £31, a real bargain at £3.95!!

Designed by Kit Carson it features a 3 inch tanto pointed AUS4 stainless steel blade with a zytel handle, it also has the AutoLAWKS safety system which automatically engages and locks the blade open.

It feels a little small in my hand and one-handed opening feels a little clumsy, I cannot seem to get the required leverage on the thumb studs. What I do like is the finger guard and that it takes up very little space in my kit, if things are too bulky they may get left out. They don’t call it an occasional day carry knife, it is by design an everyday carry so it is with you as and when it is required.

Mini Survival Kit

I like making survival kits, I like making them with a container that you could carry in your pocket every day without even realizing it. For example my wife was clearing some stuff away and found a care bear lip gloss tin, I saw it and straight away I knew I had to make a survival kit with it.

Now I know it does not contain more than a day or two’s worth of items, however it would be better than nothing for a night especially with the snow that brings everything to a halt here in the UK. The kit contains:
1 Razor blade.
2 Water purification tablets.
Some cotton wool tinder.
Half a book of matches.
1 mini fishing chem light.

Aitor Skinner knife

I have had this knife for 15 years. It has been used fishing, camping and work. It does not get carried with me as much these days due to knife carry laws here in the UK.
